a4uexpo London 2008
After almost ending up on the wrong side of London yesterday, a few ‘corrective’ tube connections and a train journey later, Nick, Darian, Ingrid and Myself arrived back in Bristol about 4pm yesterday afternoon with Matt and Claire returning a while later. If the other guys were anything like me, by around 6pm last night I felt the full effect of nearly 4 days solid, adrenaline fueled, hard graft hit me like a train. Was it worth it, you bet!
It’s great to hear everyone’s great feedback and that people enjoyed themselves so much, it just re-confirms that it was worth really pushing things forward again this year. Even my attempts to extract some negative feedback from people on day two seemed to have them more fishing around for something to say rather than reeling off a list of grievances!
I’d like to highlight a few unsung heros that deserve a mention.
- First up, Nick and Darian for the registration system this year. We hope that it was one of the biggest unsung heros of a4uexpo 2008, just getting its job done and getting you all in. Considering it was its first outing at a show, it seemed pretty smooth and can only improve futher from now on.
- The AV guys in rooms 3 & 4 for not only being on top of everything, but for being ultra professional and helpful.
- Joost de valk for jumping in for Bob Rains at the last minute so we could get the session underway.
I’d also like to say thanks to Nadeem, Lammo, Bruce, Mark, Hannah, Claire, Dave at Linkshare, J’lil, Zak, Graham, Jason and anyone else who took time to share a beer and a chat with me over the 3 days.
I’m sure Matt will post a nice post-expo blog including photos and Chris will more than likely be applying his video skills to get some sessions up over the coming weeks and months.
See y’all in Amsterdam 2009

What a tremendous event! I really can’t fault it. All you guys did so amazingly well and I’m sad it’s all over.
Was great to finally get to speak to you properly Pete as usually we never get to say more than few sentences.
I look forward to a web design presentation by you at next year’s event :)
